I trained as a composer, went to Hollywood on a scoring fellowship, studied world music on a travel grant for 2 years in Africa and Asia, and then worked for 15 years in post-production music. In the early 2000’s I fell in love with Argentine Tango, started learning both the music and dance, and spent 20 years traveling the world working as both a musician and dancer. I now live in Berlin, Germany with my wife and two children and am looking to get back to more stable work as a composer. I have a home studio with a big tracking room in Berlin and lots of experience scoring, transcribing, arranging, and orchestrating. I thrive in collaboration, communicate effectively, and am happy for feedback.

Sometimes we get the opportunity to create something fresh, without a particular model. These are tracks that don’t really fit in other categories. They’re a little strange, silly, unique…some of my favorite work.
Vocal harmony is a favorite form. Before beginning work as a commercial composer I sang in and directed several a cappella groups and the opportunity to bring this experience to my work is always a good time.
Much of my music draws from “world music” in some respect. Instrumentation, rhythmic structures, in some case style fusions…here are some samples of commercial work that have a more overt world music influence.

Robinson Scholarship in Music, Phi Beta Kappa and summa cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts with Honors in Music
Kansas City Composer in Residence fellowship, a joint effort of the Kansas City Symphony, the Conservatory of Music at University of Missouri-Kansas City, and the Kansas City Kansas School District.
Work through this fellowship led to several scoring assignments for Hunter, Quantum Leap and LA Law under the tutelage of Mike Post. During this period Korey also studied film scoring with Dominic Frontiere, Earle Hagen and Bob Cobert.
