uniE621 Lima y sus Demonios sobre Ruedas
Lima and Its Demons on Wheels is an artistic project that explores the everyday chaos of traffic in downtown Lima, Peru, not only as an urban phenomenon but also as a reflection of a fractured coexistence. The project utilizes traditional printmaking techniques such as stenciling, screen printing, and woodcut. The creation of the artworks begins with drawing, complemented by digital image editing and the use of digital vectors. This process generates what is known as a digital print. Additionally, graphic elements from comics are used, such as flat colors, kinetic lines, and words and onomatopoeia within speech bubbles. On the other hand, warm colors are used because they are associated with action, strength, anger, and danger—characteristics of the chaotic traffic context. The color red stands out, particularly because it is also associated with aggression and extreme emotions. These colors are combined with neutral tones such as black, gray, and white. Desesperación our city. Furthermore, by using graphic elements from comics, a dynamic proposal is achieved with playful and satirical characteristics, suggesting that the chaos experienced in the city is something tragicomic. This is reinforced by the incorporation of features of warning and regulatory traffic signs. As part of the project, visual interventions were also carried out on Abancay Avenue (the city's most chaotic avenue), where the artist placed stickers, both in public spaces and on public buses, featuring the most striking images from the proposal. This resulted in a series of photographs that visualize the critical connection between the works and the study environment.
