Kyle Meng is a Toronto-based pianist and composer, born and raised in Chengdu, China. He began studying piano at the age of seven and soon developed a deep interest in classical music. Kyle graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Music Composition from the University of Toronto’s Faculty of Music, where he studied piano with Younggun Kim and composition with James Rolfe. Kyle is active as a composer and music producer. He has written orchestra, chamber music, film soundtracks, art songs, and solo piano pieces. In 2024, he composed soundtracks for thesis films at Sheridan College and created original music and sound design for the games Lost in the Ink and Frankenpets. Frankenpets was awarded 3rd place in the People’s Choice category at the 2025 Level Up Showcase, a major Ontario-wide exhibition celebrating student-made video games from top post-secondary institutions. As a pianist, Kyle has performed a wide range of music across Canada. In May 2019, he performed Ligeti’s Musica Ricercata at both the Canadian Music Centre and Heron Baptist Church, as part of the “Prehistoric Ligeti Concert” hosted by Classical Context. More recently, in May 2025, he co-hosted an evening piano recital with Canadian composer Andrew James Clark at Heron Baptist Church, showcasing a program of contemporary and classical works.
