About

Hi! I’m Lance Theunissen, a freelance Motion Designer living in the beautiful city of Cape Town in South Africa.
Using over a decade of experience, I craft beautiful animation with meaningful stories.
I love getting to know new people, learning and experiencing new things and asking “what if?”.
I enjoy the challenge of taking a project all the way from ideation, through storyboarding, design, illustration through to final animation and hitting that render button.

When I’m not working on awesome projects I enjoy spending time with my family, skateboarding, watching a horror movie or eating something spicy!
If you’re looking to elevate or advertise your brand, hype a product or process with an explainer video or even make short form content to get eyes and engagement on your social media pages I’d love to help!

Taking a Break

I aimed to create this piece to announce that I would be taking a short break from freelance work after the birth of my son (September 2022) but as life usually goes, I only completed it in January 2023. This was a super fun piece inspired by the artwork of the Netflix series Bee and Puppycat. Pushing my cel animation and after effects 3D workflow forward. animator motiondesign 2danimation celanimation framebyframeanimation illustration design
