    uniE608 Showreel 2026 — Documentary & Drama Underscore.
A selection of original score work for documentary and narrative drama, focused on underscore: music that supports the image and the dialogue without competing with them. The reel moves through several emotional registers — intimate piano and small-ensemble writing, sustained orchestral textures, tension built from drones and sparse rhythm, and thematic material developed across full-length films. Each cue is presented in its original picture context so you can hear how the music behaves with the edit, not in isolation. Filmography: https://www.twine.net/signin What you'll hear: Feature drama scoring (orchestral hybrid, thematic development) Documentary underscore (restrained, dialogue-friendly, observational) Tension and unease cues for character-driven narrative Intimate solo-instrument writing for emotional beats. Role across these projects: Composer. On selected projects also Sound Designer, Mixer, and Sound Editor (Winner — Best Sound Editing, Brasília International Film Festival 2019). Tools: Pro Tools, Cubase, orchestral libraries, live instruments, when the project allows. Background: 15+ years scoring for film, documentary, and television in Brazil and internationally. Trained in orchestration at The Juilliard School (New-York) and composition at L'École Normale de Musique (Paris). uniE608 HELEN — Brazilian Drama Feature Dir. André Collazzo · 2020
Helen is a nine-year-old girl living with her grandmother, Dona Graça, in a cortiço (tenement) in the Bixiga district of São Paulo. Dona Graça cleans houses and sells espetinhos at night to get by. The film follows their daily rhythm — and a small, tender quest, Helen’s search for a makeup case as a birthday gift for her grandmother — to open onto much larger questions: social exclusion, political neglect, and the absence of basic rights for people living on the city’s margins. Built on a strong current of realism, the film screened at international festivals including Cinéma en Construction at the Cinélatino festival in Toulouse, France, and was praised for bringing a breath of hope and sensitivity into a hard social reality. My role: Original score Tools: Cubase / Pro Tools Notable: International festival selection (Cinélatino — Cinéma en Construction, Toulouse, 2020); ensemble cast led by Marcélia Cartaxo and Tony Tornado Helen link on IMDB : https://www.twine.net/signin (8.2 rating) Case study Brief: The director’s direction was clear, with a strong focus on realism and social dynamics. The score had to underline interior emotional shifts without scoring the surface of scenes: honoring the tenderness between a child and her grandmother without sentimentalizing their hardship, and never editorializing over the film’s social truth. Approach: I kept the score deliberately restrained and naturalistic, used sparingly, leaving generous space for dialogue and the ambient life of the cortiço. Rather than heightening the film’s hardest moments, the music stays underneath them, present mainly to underline Helen’s inner world and the bond at the film’s center. It opens up only where the story genuinely earns a note of hope, so the score supports the realism instead of imposing emotion on it. Result: Selected for Cinéma en Construction at Cinélatino (Toulouse, 2020), and recognized in reception for bringing hope and sensitivity to a hard social reality, the emotional register the score was written to hold. uniE608 HAULING (Efeito Reciclagem) — Documentary Feature Dir. Sean Walsh · 2010
A documentary on the recycling underworld of São Paulo, centered on Claudinês Alvarenga — a charismatic father of 27 children who drives his lime-green VW bus through the city collecting plastic, cardboard, and discarded electronics. Working alongside his children, Claudinês embodies the resilience and dignity of families who are marginalized by mainstream society yet keep the city running. The film screened at more than 30 festivals worldwide, winning awards across the Americas and Europe. I composed the original score — and built its entire percussion section out of recycled materials. (Nominated Best Soundtrack at Thanet International Film Festival-UK). Every percussion sound in the film was performed on cardboard, plastic bottles, metal cups, and other discarded objects, so the music was literally made from the same materials Claudinês collects. The score turns the film's subject into its sound: warm, rhythmic, and human, honoring the family's resourcefulness rather than scoring their hardship. My role: Original score Tools: DAW: Cubase / Pro Tools]; percussion performed on recycled materials (cardboard, plastic bottles, metal cups) Notable: Winner — Best Feature Film, FICA Environmental Film Festival (2010); prizes at Cine Eco Seia, Portugal (2010); official selections at San Francisco Green Film Festival, Zurich Film Festival, and Planet in Focus (Canada); 30+ festivals across the Americas and Europe https://www.twine.net/signin (Rating: 6.9) Case study Brief: A warm, humane documentary about a recycler and his family, told without pity. The director wanted a score that honored the family's dignity and resourcefulness, neither romanticizing poverty nor underscoring it as misery. Approach: I took the film's own subject as the score's method: I performed the entire percussion section on recycled materials: cardboard, plastic bottles, metal cups, scrap. The result is a rhythmic, organic, handmade sound that mirrors Claudinês's work directly, turning discarded objects into music just as he turns them into a living. Melodic material stayed warm and unsentimental, letting the family's charisma carry the film while the score gave it pulse and heart. Result: A widely awarded festival film, 30+ festivals worldwide with awards in Canada, Brazil, Portugal, Mexico, Estonia, and the USA, anchored by a score whose recycled-material concept became one of its most distinctive creative signatures. uniE608 FRONTEIRAS DO PENSAMENTO — TV Series · 16 episodes
Original score for the TV series adaptation of Fronteiras do Pensamento, Brazil's renowned conference platform built around the world's leading contemporary thinkers. Across 16 episodes over two years, each installment centers on a major intellectual figure, among them Werner Herzog, Luc Ferry, Mark Lilla, and Joshua Greene. Exploring ideas across philosophy, neuroscience, literature, and the arts. I composed the underscore for the series throughout its run. The brief was singular and demanding: support the speaker. Each score had to follow the emotional and thematic arc of a thinker in full flow, deepening an idea, holding a pause, carrying a transition, while always leaving generous room for the voice and never competing with it. The series aired on broadcast television (TV Cultura) and streams on Prime Video, Apple TV, and Canal Curta! My role: Original score, full series run (16 episodes, 2 years) Tools: DAW: Cubase / Pro Tools Notable: National broadcast (TV Cultura) + multi-platform streaming (Prime Video, Apple TV, Canal Curta!); produced by Prosperidade Content in co-production with Guaimbé; featured thinkers including Werner Herzog and Luc Ferry https://www.twine.net/signin Mini case study Brief: A documentary series where the speaker is everything — the score exists to serve a thinking voice across a wide range of subjects, from moral neuroscience to literature to philosophy. It had to be emotionally responsive to each thinker's argument without ever pulling focus from their words. Approach: I treated the music as a frame around speech rather than a layer on top of it. Each cue tracks the emotional contour of the speaker — settling under reflective passages, lifting gently at moments of insight, receding entirely where the words needed silence. Across 16 episodes and dozens of distinct topics, I kept a consistent sonic identity for the series while tailoring each score to its subject, so the music felt like one coherent voice supporting many different ones. Result: A sustained two-year scoring relationship across the full series, carried on national broadcast and multiple international streaming platforms — a body of work built on the core discipline of documentary underscore: presence without intrusion. uniE608 LUGARES DE MEDO E ÓDIO (Places of Fear and Hatred) - Documentary - Dir. Alexandre Nakahara · 2016
A documentary that confronts hate speech and prejudice through the anonymous homophobic and transphobic graffiti left in public spaces, and the fear, violence, and exclusion those messages represent. Built around testimony from people targeted by this hostility, including the writer. The film turns ugly anonymous hate into an occasion for visibility, dignity, and reflection. I composed the original score and handled the mix. On material this charged, the work was an exercise in restraint and care: the score never amplifies the ugliness on screen, instead holding quiet, dignified space around the people speaking, letting their testimony carry the weight while the music underlines their humanity rather than the hatred directed at them. My role: Original score · Mix Tools: DAW : Cubase / Pro Tools Notable: Produced with São Paulo State cultural funding (Secretaria da Cultura / ProAC); exhibited at the Fazendo Gênero / Mundo de Mulheres (Women's Worlds) conference, 2017; https://www.twine.net/signin Case study Brief: A short documentary on homophobic and transphobic hate speech, centered on the testimony of those it targets. The audio had to handle extremely charged subject matter with care, supporting the emotional truth of the people speaking without ever sensationalizing or aestheticizing the hatred the film examines. Approach: I scored with deliberate restraint, keeping the music quiet and humane and staying out of the way of testimony entirely where silence carried more weight. The aim was dignity: music that frames the people on screen with empathy rather than underscoring the violence of the words around them. As mixer, I kept every voice clear and present, so the film's power came from being heard, not from manipulation. Result: Selected for academic and cultural exhibition including the Fazendo Gênero / Mundo de Mulheres conference (2017), as part of a body of socially engaged documentary work using film to confront prejudice. uniE621 A NOITE DAS VAMPIRAS (Night of the Vampires) — Horror Feature Dir. Rubens Mello · 2024
An affectionate homage to the B-movie horror of the 1980s and 90s, full of 80s nostalgia and Brazilian genre flair. Justine, a TV commercial actress raised by adoptive parents, is invited to meet her biological family at a party celebrating their thriving butcher shop — and the plot unfolds through a series of bizarre, sinister events surrounding her new relatives and the secret behind their success. I created the sound atmospheres and handled the mix. The brief was pure genre: building the retro, tense, lo-fi sonic world of vintage horror — analog-flavored ambiences, unsettling textures, and a mix that leans into the campy, cult-movie spirit the film celebrates. A register entirely distinct from my documentary and drama work: atmosphere, dread, and genre fun. uniE608 CRACK, REPENSAR — Documentary Short Dir. Felipe Crepker Vieira · 2015 ·
A public-health documentary that asks society to rethink how it understands crack cocaine. Through testimony from users, ex-users, public-health specialists, academics, administrators, and justice professionals, the film examines the reasons behind drug use, the debate between prohibition and regulation, how other countries approach the problem, and possible paths toward recovery — arguing that in a society of dependents, questions like harm reduction and compulsory hospitalization need to be reconsidered. I handled the complete audio for the film: original score, production sound, and the final mix and audio edit. On a documentary built almost entirely from interview testimony about a difficult subject, the work was about restraint and dignity — scoring with enough warmth to humanize without ever sentimentalizing, and keeping every voice clear, present, and respected in the mix. My role: Original score · Production sound · Mix & audio edit Tools: DAW: Cubase / Pro Tools Notable: Winner — Best Short Film (Popular Jury), REcine 2015; international festival selections (Mexico, Colombia, Trinidad and Tobago, Germany); produced by Doctela, distributed by Fiocruz / VídeoSaúde https://www.twine.net/signin (Rating 7.2) Case study Brief: A testimony-driven documentary on a heavy, stigmatized public-health subject. The audio had to do two jobs at once — a score that brought humanity and warmth to the people on screen without editorializing or manipulating, and a mix that kept every spoken word clear and dignified across interviews recorded in varied conditions. Approach: I kept the score sparse and humane, present mainly in transitions and reflective moments and absent wherever a voice needed to stand alone. As mixer, I prioritized intelligibility and presence above all — the film lives or dies on whether you trust and hear the people speaking — balancing production sound, testimony, and music so the score supported the emotional through-line without ever crowding the words. Result: Awarded Best Short Film by the Popular Jury at REcine 2015 and selected for festivals across the Americas and Europe; distributed by Fiocruz as a public-health resource and available in open access.
