I (Lillian) am a 22 year old college student at Colorado State University earning an undergraduate degree in Interdisciplinary Arts/Literature and Anthropology. As a former athlete with black belts in Kung Fu and Wushu, as well as a state placement in Wrestling, the last thing my family expected me to do was join the Theatre program halfway through highschool. Since then I have been doing theatre, dance, voice work, and modeling in or even outside of school. Making a living doing what I love with the people I love but after an accident involving a lot of pavement, a car, and my body in my freshman year of college I took a step back. Everything in the world stopped for a bit and I had a chance to breathe. I came out as Transgender just a month before the accident and the shift from White Cis Man to Transgender Woman with stitches in her face rocked me, literally. Making "art" for the sake of making money didn't sit right with me anymore, it wasn't art, it was my new sport; a means to an end with no end in sight. So on this 4 month little sabbatical from my constant rushing river of a life, I stopped. Right then and there I changed my Major's from Theatre and Biology, which I was only taking because I knew I could make money, to my current disciplines. Here where I stand now is the way I can see myself making a difference, using my knack for being really loud and obnoxious to help people be heard as they deserve to be. Studying at CSU has taught me many things about both the world and myself. With a mix of theatre, literature, sciences, and anthropology under my belt I will try to convey through my portfolio my abilities. Specifically my way of finding avenues to give a voice to something that has previously not been given an opportunity to be heard. Through my research papers, screenplays, projects, presentations, and professional experience; I hope to convince you of my effectiveness within my chosen fields. I present these not to show my capability as a researcher but for my skill in communicating what I find, not simply finding the tool but knowing how to use it and why.
