I am Lubomir Denev, a Bulgarian composer-conductor and piano-improviser born on 1951-09-12 in Vidin. From childhood I taught myself violin and accordion, studied percussion at the High School of Music in Sofia, and began making my mark as a jazz pianist and composer while at the State Musical Academy, performing at international festivals across Europe and beyond. Since 1986 I have worked as a freelance composer and conductor, collaborating with Bulgaria's top orchestras, premiering new Bulgarian works, and recording for Concord Records. My music spans chamber and symphonic pieces, theatre, TV, and cinema, and I have earned awards including the Golden Orpheus prize, the Sofia award, ASKEER, and the Golden Chest for film music, among others.
