Madeline Down is a Seattle-based filmmaker and co-founder of Studio89, where she blends narrative and documentary storytelling to create emotionally resonant, visually driven work. A director, cinematographer, and producer, she moves fluidly between genres with a collaborative, character-focused approach.
Before founding Studio89 in 2024, Madeline led production for the Seattle Seahawks for seven seasons, shaping the team’s creative identity through long-form documentaries, branded storytelling, and award-winning series.
Her narrative directorial debut, Sense of Emergency; a tense, character-driven short exploring PTSD through the eyes of a veteran paramedic; has screened at festivals nationwide, including Oscar-qualifying selections at HollyShorts, Flickers’ Rhode Island International Film Festival, Santa Barbara International Film Festival and Sonoma International Film Festival. She is currently signed on to direct two narrative features, EXIT STRATEGY & UMBRA, expanding her cinematic portfolio.
Across documentary and branded work, Madeline has produced projects ranging from intimate character portraits to large-scale series. She recently produced a six-part docu-series on the National Hot Rod Association for VICE, that aired in early 2026. Currently, she is producing a feature documentary “12” with Marshawn Lynch’s Beastmode Productions.
Her work has been recognized at over 30 film festivals and honored with four Northwest Emmys, two Bronze CLIO Awards, and Best Cinematographer at the 2024 PNW Indie Awards.
