🎶GENRE:
Dark Hip-Hop Trap Production.
✅ WHAT I DID (My Role):
Full beat creation, arrangement, vocal recording, mixing, and mastering for the artist SparxTheVirus. The instrumental structure was tailored to fit the final vocal performance to ensure optimal flow.
💡 MY CREATIVE CHOICES:
The mysterious atmosphere is driven by an arpeggiated, reversed harp and layered atmospheric vocal textures. An aggressive brass stab plays consistently to maintain drive. A separate staccato vocal cycle is layered to provide an agreement nod to the rapper’s performance. The saturated 808 bass is used dynamically to deliver powerful sonic contrast while retaining its low-end presence.
🎚️ MY TECHNICAL CHOICES:
Created atmospheric depth using reverb-embellished vocal samples to complement the main rap vocal without compromising its dry punch. Applied spectral sidechaining to the 808 to prevent it from muddying the kick drum’s impact.
🎶 Genre :
Amapiano / R&B Fusion: A non-trendy club record fusing an Amapiano foundation with an R&B signature to create a warm, calm, and atmospheric soundscape.
✅ What I Did (My Role) :
Co-writer and Production: Co-wrote lyrics, handled full composition, engineering, and refinement of the instrumental (Log Drum, percussion, and melodies), arrangement, vocal recording (lead and low-budget choir), mixing, and mastering.
💡Creative Choices (The “Why”) :
The core design focuses on warmth: I delivered an R&B signature using layered, lofi-textured pads creating a lust, spacy background bed. Synthetic sweeps pilot the transition between sections. The verses are designed to be warm and atmospheric, contrasting with a low-budget choir chorus to maintain universal appeal while keeping the lead vocal dominant.
🎚️ Technical Choices (The “How”) :
The Log Drum’s impact was engineered using a three-layer approach (low, mid, high rattle/roll) combined with transient shaping and spectral sidechaining to duck the Log Drum from the kick, ensuring maximum punch. Vocals were processed using parallel processing to inject essential body and color. The background vocals used gain automation and transient reduction for blend and depth, while employing serial and parallel reverb to boost clarity and sonic control. The Master Bus finalized the track using a comprehensive chain for glue (Bus Compression), tonal sculpting (Ozone/Passive EQ), and a two-stage limiting process for competitive loudness.
🎶 GENRE:
Experimental Afro-Anthem: Blending Amapiano, Afrobeat (Fela Kuti inspired), Hip-Hop, and Epic Orchestral elements.
✅ WHAT I DID (My Role):
Co-composed lyrics and instrumentals, arranged, recorded, mixed, and mastered this song for the 2022 Africa Cup of Nations. The instrumental structure was tailored to fit the final vocal performance to ensure optimal flow across seven distinct artists.
💡 CREATIVE CHOICES (The “Why”):
The track’s identity is unified by a constant Elvis Kemayo-inspired guitar line, paying tribute to Cameroonian music pioneers. The initial Amapiano beat uses strings and synths for drive. The theme of African diversity is showcased in the second verse through a shifting sonic palette: a marching band transition leads into a Fela Kuti-inspired Afrobeat section. A dedicated Amapiano vs. Hip-Hop fusion section is utilized when the third rapper enters, backed by the 808 and groovy synth to add further genre diversity and interest. A dynamic orchestral ballad drop (strings, brass, and crashes, no drums) is used to create maximum contrast. The song concludes with the Amapiano vs. Epic fusion climax, a dense section where all artists sing and a massive crowd chant (hoya, hoya howeyo) is backed by the full orchestral power of epic drums, brass, analog strings, the log drum groove, and sweet analog synths.
🎚️. TECHNICAL CHOICES (The “How”):
Balanced the unique voices of seven rappers and singers by making each shine in their designated part and unifying background ad-libs. Managed the dense arrangement using spectral EQ and Mid-Side processing to blend the Amapiano log drum with epic orchestral elements. Vocal clarity was ensured using two-stage (spectral and multiband) sidechain compression against the music.
