I am Maria Constantinescu, a visual artist and children's book illustrator born in the Republic of Moldova. I graduated from the National University of Theatre Arts and Cinematography 'I. L. Caragiale' in Bucharest, Romania, and I have formal training in painting, scenography, theatre directing, and fashion design. I have worked as a scenographer in Romania and Moldova and as a children's book illustrator in Romania and the USA. My graphic and painting works are in private collections in the USA, the Netherlands, France, Romania, the Republic of Moldova, Ukraine, and Russia. I am drawn to the relationship between opposites, synchronicity, boundaries, uniqueness, and universality, and to how the individual relates to archetypes. I aim to develop these themes through interdisciplinary projects that blend the visual arts with observation of reality, physics, psychology, and Jungian insights.
