I am a South African filmmaker and cinematographer known for my award-winning work on feature films, television dramas, and documentaries, often filmed in conflict zones, remote environments, and humanitarian crises. With more than two decades of experience filming across Africa, Europe, Asia, and the United States, my work focuses on the intersection of conflict, human resilience, and the natural world. I have filmed in over 25 countries, including extensive work in wartime Ukraine and other unstable regions. My career has taken me from the frontlines of armed conflict to wildlife reserves and humanitarian operations, documenting people living and working under extreme conditions. I have also served as a head of department overseeing large crews on narrative productions. In addition to filmmaking, I have experience in sea rescue operations and bring a strong field-based approach to cinematography, often working in demanding and high-risk environments. In 2018, I won Best Cinematography at the South African Film and Television Awards (SAFTA) for both Tjovitjo (TV Drama) and Skulls of My People (Feature Documentary). My work has also received multiple awards and recognition at festivals and industry events both in South Africa and internationally. I am a Nikon brand affiliate, regularly shooting documentary and narrative projects using Nikon cinema and mirrorless systems. Skilled in directing, cinematography, editing, drone operation, and field production, I combine technical precision with a strong instinct for story. My work is driven by the belief that filmmaking can bear witness to the human condition and reveal truths that might otherwise remain unseen.
