I’m Martin Cheney, a lifelong educator and creative musician based in Mount Barker, South Australia. Over more than 17 years I have taught music at tertiary and secondary levels, and directed, conducted, served as répétiteur and pianist on 50+ professional and educational theatre projects. I bring a calm, organised approach to leadership and a passion for helping students reach their full creative potential. As a composer and arranger with commissions from the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra and Adelaide Wind Orchestra, I balance scholarly research with practical, hands-on activity in the classroom and on stage. I am currently the Head of Co-Curricular Music at Scotch College Adelaide, and have experience composing for film, orchestral, choral and chamber music. My score for 'Within the Pines' (dir. Paul Evans Thomas) won the Dark Nights Film Fest's Midnight Spotlight Award for Best Score.
