Student Teacher Assistant at Fort Elliott CISD
January 7, 2023 - May 22, 2023
I had a multitude of responsibilities in the classroom. Although I was an assistant, the professional teacher allowed me to take over the lessons nearly every day; even allowing me to substitute for her classes when she was out of work. I assisted the lead educator in figuring out weekly lesson plans, often allowing my own creativity to flourish in planning specific projects to give to the young students. I worked hard to maintain a clean and organized classroom. I taught the students to use different mediums; most commonly using both acrylic and oil paint, graphite, chalk, clay, origami, and stained glass. I also ensured that the students were fully aware of the safety precautions regarding the kiln for clay projects and the cutting/sanding for stained glass projects, often taking over in the beginning to present how to safely and properly perform the actions needed. I educated the students on the history of famous artists and what their artwork represented. I read multiple children’s books to each elementary grade once a week. I worked on creating and printing different digital fliers and posters for each event lead by the art department. Lastly, I designed and printing t-shirts for the theater departments largest play.
