Hi, I’m Matilda White, an artist and illustrator currently studying BA Illustration at the Cambridge School of Art. I run the Etsy shop 'A Wall of Climbing Ivy' and have earned Star Seller status with over £1,000 in revenue. My work has been published in the museum gift shops of Cambridge University and used in materials for the 15th International Illustration Research Symposium, and I’ve exhibited at The Chequer House Gallery in King’s Lynn. Recent highlights include a painting gifted to Guillermo Del Toro following the release of Frankenstein in collaboration with Netflix’s PR team, and another painting given to Emerald Fennell. A painting was also accepted by The Chequer House Gallery for six weeks starting February 2026, and my illustrated work has appeared in the Cambridge University zine TTBA. Beyond art, I trained at Theatre School (Theatre Train) for two years before lockdown, studying acting, dance and singing, culminating in a production at the Royal Albert Hall which also involved organising younger cast members. I’m passionate about growing my career, exploring new mediums, and taking on commissions, while staying engaged with theatre and community events such as markets and volunteering front-of-house.

uniE621 The Choice - Original painting inspired by the 'Man vs Bear' debate
'The Choice' - Acrylic on canvas with handmade wood and plaster frame Inspired by the controversial debate of 'man vs bear' that circled the internet last summer (2024) along with Paris Paloma's song 'Last Woman on Earth', both of which act as commentary on the current misogyny running rampant through modern-day society. This work follows the techniques of the old masters and intrigues the viewer with hidden details that encapsulate the female experience. From the vibrators on the chair to the naked vulnerability of the central figure, her face turned away so that any woman may project themselves upon her, the painting holds intimacy and danger in every corner you look. illustrator artist painter

uniE621 The Coup d'etat of Midas - An Original painting inspired by modern politics
Inspired by the works of Caravaggio and Artemisia Gentileschi and fueled by my anger toward the recent oligarchs and billionaires controlling the politics within the Western world, The Coup d'état of Midas is a modern-day play on classical imagery. The painting, led by women of a range of ages and identities, channels the concept of feminine rage and the disgust at the greed of the modern elite. The figure of Midas, disguised as a politician, clings to his podium. His golden finger still stains its surface, just as his gold-sick blood fills the bowl, propped up by the figure of Wisdom in the painting. The transgender flag is draped in the background, still visible despite being partially obscured by the pillar, a symbol of authority.
