About
Purveyor of ska-punk melodies, tongue in cheek realpolitik, and a somewhat morbid humour on one day, to a weaver of atmospheric harmonies, abstract lyrical imagery, and musical delight the next!
Without the frills, I’m a composer, lyricist, performer and producer who works in a wide range of genres. I mostly write lyrics in English but I have written lyrics in Spanish and French as well. I also perform live as a soloist and with my band, Matt Hartless & the Maverick 7, and I arrange, sequence, and produce music for my projects.
I play guitar, trumpet, piano, bass, and sing and I mostly work with the following genres: rock, ska, punk, folk, funk, post punk, Balkan, gypsy ska, Hispanic, Latin, Americana, blues, samba, electro-pop, pop, reggae, space rock, prog, metal.
I dabble in many more genres besides, but I’m most experienced with those mentioned.
