Maya TIKHONOV

Maya is an author and illustrator who studied at the ESBDI in Geneva. Her work primarily focuses on black-and-white and the horror genre, though she occasionally ventures into humor, combining the two. While a certain pursuit of realism can be found in her work, Maya often experiments with abstraction to blend both approaches. She plays with the raw representation of reality and the more schematic, dreamlike, and stylized depiction of what is unseen or imagined. Her narrative creations reflect a deep emotional investment and thoughtful consideration; Maya strives to embody her characters and their inner lives beyond the actions in the story, while her illustrations are more spontaneous, emphasizing gesture and visual impact.
