Michalis Nivolianitis is a Greek composer and music producer with an extensive career in composing for film, theater, and television. He has completed advanced studies in music theory and composition, specializing in music composition for theater and cinema. He also studied theater studies and film studies at New York College and has been pursuing studies in directing over the past two years.
Since 1996, as part of the musical duo Dna Music with Alexandros Christaras, he has contributed to the music of numerous films, theater productions, TV series, and commercials both in Greece and internationally. Dna Music has released a total of 17 albums from 1999 to 2024.
Michalis is also a co-founder of the music group Occasional Dream, with which he represented Greece at the Biennale of Young Artists in 1999 and has performed live in Greece, Turkey, and Italy. He is also a member of the new artistic and educational group Weave.
He has received awards both in Greece and abroad for his work as a composer in film and theater. His compositions are released by Sony ATV, Universal, and Dna Label. His first solo album, titled “ERINYES,” is set to be released in early 2025.
He is a member of the Hellenic Film Academy, the Greek Publishers’ Association, and EDEM (Greek Collective Management Organization).

The official release of the original soundtrack and songs created by Dna specifically for the needs of the television series “O Protos Apo Emas” (The First of Us), which aired on Ant1 in 2024, directed by Pierros Andrakakos, marking their first collaboration.
The songs feature performances by Giorgos Bilios, Vasilis Tzavaras, and Tzeni Kapadai. The album cover was designed by Michalis Chatzicharalambous.
Dna is an award-winning music duo consisting of composers and producers Alexandros Christaras and Michalis Nivolianitis. Since their formation in 1996, Dna has been dedicated to composing and producing original music for film, television, and theater, establishing themselves as one of the first Greek “music production houses” specializing in music and sound for audiovisual media. Since 1998, they have signed more than 1,200 advertising campaigns in Greece and abroad.
In 2000, they founded the production studio Dna Lab, and in 2003, they established Dna Label, an independent record company with worldwide distribution.
The duo has long-standing collaborations with director Vasilis Mazomenos in films such as The Crisis Trilogy (including the recent 2021 film Purgatory), as well as with Vasilis Tselemegkos in television series such as Epifaneia, Xexase Me, Dromos, Ichni, Exapsi, and more.
In theater, they have developed a strong and long-term collaboration with director Frosso Litra. Their partnership began with Giraudoux’s The Enchanted at the Kalamata Regional Theatre (DIPETHE). This season, they have successfully collaborated on the sold-out play M.A.I.R.O.U.L.A. at Mikro Horn Theatre in Athens, as well as Pire ti zoi tis sta heria tis at the National Theatre of Northern Greece (KTHBE) in Thessaloniki.
Their compositions have been awarded and nominated at both Greek and international film and theater festivals, while their works have been released by Sony Music, Universal, EMI, and Dna Label.
