    paper Realistic furniture rendering

In this personal conceptual project, I created a fun and surreal 3D visualization of an armchair designed in the shape of a giant mug (coffee cup). The idea was to transform a classic comfortable lounge chair into a playful, everyday object — turning the entire seating form into a oversized ceramic-style mug while keeping the soft, inviting upholstery inside.
The armchair features the characteristic rounded body and handle of a traditional mug, with the seat and backrest seamlessly integrated as cozy, fabric-upholstered areas. This contrast between the rigid, matte ceramic-like exterior and the soft textile interior creates a humorous yet surprisingly functional-looking piece of furniture.
For the visualization, I focused on achieving high realism through detailed material work. I used high-quality image textures for both the ceramic shell and the fabric upholstery. Although I experimented with procedural generation for the cloth material, I ultimately opted for image-based texturing, as it delivered excellent visual quality without significantly increasing render times.
The project showcases clean studio lighting, realistic material reflections, soft shadows, and multiple viewing angles to highlight the unique mug-inspired silhouette and the tactile qualities of the design.
This visualization demonstrates my ability to combine creative conceptual thinking with technical 3D skills — blending humor, everyday objects, and comfortable furniture design into a single eye-catching piece.
