Lead Health Investigator(HIV Surveillance) at Shelby County Health Department

Led daily HIV surveillance operations, managing full workload and providing intermittent training and guidance to a team of two. Collaborated with the Tennessee Department of Health to meet additional workload and deadlines. Became proficient in four Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems including Baptist Memorial Hospital, Methodist Hospital, Regional One, and the Health Department’s new platform. Assisted other teams (e.g., STD clinic) by searching patient records and resolving discrepancies. Led or supported six HIV testing outreach initiatives, conducting pre-test interviews to accurately gather patients’ medical and STD histories.

Completed Disease Intervention Specialist (DIS) certificate and applied competency in contact tracing, case investigation, and disease intervention. Processed 150+ reported HIV labs weekly using NBS, REDCap, morbidity reports, and paper formats. Entered new HIV diagnoses into eHARS (Enhanced HIV/AIDS Reporting System) and conducted 30 weekly provider calls to gather patient information and determine case status. Verified data replication between NBS and eHARS to ensure consistency and reported new HIV diagnoses to a supervisor for assignment to the field team. Served as point of contact in supervisor’s absence.

Covid Screening Center and Health Development at Church Health

Completed COVID screening for 120 patients daily. Assisted with annual fundraising by updating approximately 25,000 donor addresses and managing roughly 12,000 cards. Triaged 60 patients per day to ensure appropriate specialty clinic routing.
