My varied working life has been a filled with working with people directly (community publishing, retail&catering, retail/phone sales and teaching in communities) with a warm sincere north eastern voice that reflects my personality. My creativity has also been a motivating part of my life, starting with designing what could be the Internet today (when I was 11 I won a British Telecom competition), asked to be an editor and publisher and more recently creating digital kaleidoscopic images, paintings and a social history colouring in book. I learned a lot from a personal project to create an audio short story from a book by Amos Tutuola, and consequently enjoyed a period of creating field recordings/conversations, part of which were used in technology projects I was engaged in. I have also had training to conduct interviews although the worst interview I conducted was on a mobile sofa with a mayor of Lewisham - the sofa was so much fun, my questions were more about the quality of the ride! I like defining projects through expectations and defining priorities and timelines.

Social History Colouring Book of Deptford

This project was a response to the accumulation of photos taken in Deptford SE London over seventeen years. The area has a rich history going back to Elizabethan docks, historical churches and visitors such as Christopher Marlow, Peter the great and John Evelyn the originator of the modern garden.

An A4 book with twenty pages, the first 100 print run in 2019 was for a local charity supporting street people with mental health needs, consequently being reprinted twice due to the popularity of the content. The social history aspect is a crucial aspect of the book, with a short pithy and valid description of each page to be coloured in, and how local people have a deep sense of ownership.
Images were edited in Adobe Photoshop CS6 and layout created using Indesign.
