I’m a Sydney-based illustrator and primary school teacher with a lifelong passion for drawing. Creativity has always come naturally to me, and over the years my work has grown into a diverse portfolio of children’s books, educational resources, and commercial art. My illustrations have been published in a number of books, including Lucky with Affirm Press, Granbad with UQP, the Maxi the Lifeguard series with Affirm Press, and the TC series with Scholastic. My illustration work also spans posters, comic strips, character designs, pamphlets, logos, and educational resources for clients such as Little Fox Inc., the Australian Museum, Educational Assessment Australia, and the New South Wales Department of Education. Before moving fully into illustration, I began my career in the sciences, working in wildlife conservation education at the Australian Museum and Taronga Zoo. Those experiences gave me a deep connection to the natural world, which continues to influence my artwork and my commitment to environmental conservation. In 2019, my book Maxi the Lifeguard: The Stormy Protest won The Wilderness Society Environment Award for Children’s Literature, reflecting the combination of creative storytelling and environmental themes that are important in my work. With a background in teaching, I’ve also spent many years working in classrooms and school libraries. That experience has given me valuable insight into the power of visual storytelling and how it can engage and inspire young readers.
