The Sketch That Came Alive | comic
This project is a visually engaging, character-driven short comic blending fantasy and everyday life. It explores themes of self-doubt, courage, and hidden potential through expressive visuals and strong pacing. USE LINK TO SEE THE FULL PROJECT: https://www.twine.net/signin _STORY_ Lina is a quiet and insecure young artist. She struggles with self-doubt. One night, she sketches a small creature named Miko. She dismisses it as lifeless. Suddenly, the drawing comes alive. This brings her imagination into reality. As Lina gains confidence, her drawings fill the room with vibrant life. Then, a shadowy force formed from her doubts begins destroying everything. Realizing that Miko represents her belief in herself, Lina redraws it with confidence, defeating the darkness. By morning, Lina is transformed. She is no longer afraid to create. _VISUAL STRATEGY & TECHNICAL APPROACH_ Character Acting: Lina features a simple design, expressive eyes, messy hair, and an oversized hoodie. Miko contrasts this as a small magical creature with round shapes and glowing accents. Lighting as Narrative: The boards utilize chiaroscuro principles to separate the mundane from the magical. The opening uses muted colors and a messy workspace to establish her emotional posture. The inciting incident introduces a warm glow and soft character design. The climax shifts to dark tones and distorted shapes. The resolution is framed by bright lighting and a calm ending. Draftsmanship: The energetic line work focuses on clear silhouettes and staging. TIMELINE: This 5 paged comics was completed in 5 days, character design, sketches and paneling, linework and colouring. colouring comic illustrator Storyboarding conceptart
    Total loss
A deep dive into emotional storytelling through high-contrast lighting. This piece explores the intersection of clean line art and the classical Chiaroscuro 💡 technique. My goal was to capture a visceral moment of grief using a 'Graphic Noir' aesthetic. I focused on how Exaggerated Silhouettes and Secondary Action—specifically the heavy rainfall and splashing droplets—can heighten the tension of a static composition. Process Breakdown: Final Illustration: The completed high-contrast render. Value & Lighting Study: A look at the isolated shadow layer to show value control. Line Art & Flat Colors: Proving production-readiness for comic and animation pipelines. Initial Sketch: The foundational composition and gesture. The Black Mamba Experience
This piece demonstrates the ability to blend high-impact storytelling with conversion-focused design, ideal for digital media campaigns. Action-Oriented Composition: The forward-leaning posture creates a strong diagonal line that directs the viewer's eye through the frame, designed specifically to stop the scroll in fast-paced feeds. Strategic Cultural Resonance: By embedding local markers into the design, the character fosters immediate brand trust and relatability within specific target markets. Technical Visual Hierarchy: Using intentional rim lighting to separate the subject from the background ensures the asset "pops" on small mobile screens—a critical requirement for high-performing ad creatives. Form & Durability: The use of distinct, bold line weights establishes a visual narrative of resilience and reliability. This is a performance-driven asset built to communicate complex brand values instantly while maintaining high engagement across digital platforms. illustrator bookillustration digital illustration comicillustration
    Further Heights
The path was not easy. The final exams felt harder than the climb up this ancient, split tree. But the view—and the realization—was worth every step. A young woman in dark denim jeans and a patterned shirt stands balanced on a thick, gnarled branch. She is not resting. She has one eye glued to her binoculars, looking across the vast green expanse towards a sprawling coastal city defined by classical columns, terraces, and a distinct double-towered cathedral. Her life's achievements are integrated into this moment: a scroll is tucked into her waistband, a heavy academic book strap is fixed over her shoulder, and on the branch above her, a graduation cap and gown hang like a temporary flag of victory. An green band, perhaps a team color or identifier, circles her left arm. Below her, a graceful giraffe feeds on the acacia leaves, seemingly oblivious to the viewer's presence. The scene is defined by a sense of Threshold: she is balanced between the wild, natural ground she grew up on and the organized, metropolitan future she has spent years preparing to enter. The binoculars are focused on what’s next. Link to project: https://www.twine.net/signin illustrator comicartist
