I’m Sam, an enthusiastic and creative communications consultant with a wealth of experience in news media, government, politics and corporate marketing. I have worked as a staffer in the Australian Parliament, a freelance animator for corporate videos, and a digital producer for an Australian national newspaper and the country’s #1 news podcast.
As a trained journalist, my primary speciality is taking complex information and distilling it into engaging media – whether that’s a blog post, news article, social media post, video explainer, podcast or simply a script! Whatever the form, I can use my skills across copywriting, research and digital media production to get the message across.
I am open especially to digital copywriting and video editing work, and as of Jan 2025 available for up to 40 hours of work per week.

During my time as fill-in Senior Communications and Campaigns Advisor for Senator Janet Rice, I handled media inquiries and pitched to media in line with campaign objectives. This included writing media releases, you can find an example here: https://www.twine.net/signin
End-to-end video production for sustainability services firm Phantm. This included scripting and motion graphic design using Adobe AfterEffects.
In 2023/24 I worked across Melbourne, Adelaide and Canberra for two Australians Greens Senators: Barbara Pocock and Janet Rice. Together they held the portfolios of Finance, Public Sector, Social Services, Aged Care, Gambling and Forests. I worked with the Senators and their teams to produce social media in line with campaign goals and parliamentary events, including legislative committee reports.

I produced, presented and edited this explainer video end-to-end, taking an upcoming article from The Saturday Paper (a national Australian newspaper) and turning it into a 6-minute explainer video on young Australian voting patterns.
During my role as digital content producer for Schwartz Media, I worked on the 7am Podcast, Australia’s #1 news podcast. My duties included lighting and camera set-up, post-production colour grading, editing, captioning and social media copy and scheduling.
