Broken But Still Beautiful – The Chronic Pain Doll
Purple skin, green pigtails, one leg on the floor, a robotic arm and eye cover dangling, little eyes scattered below… a broken doll. She’s not polished, not perfect, but she’s real.
I made her to represent how chronic pain feels – like pieces of you fall away when the world isn’t looking. People see the surface and assume you’re fine, but they don’t see the invisible struggles, the parts of you you’ve lost along the way. Disability isn’t always obvious. Sometimes it’s hidden inside joints that ache, nerves that burn, or energy that drains before the day has even started.
This doll is me – and she’s many of us. A reminder that even when the world doesn’t see your pain, it’s still there. You’re still valid. You’re still whole in your own way.
I also hope amputees can find something in her too. Because losing a piece of yourself – whether visible or invisible – doesn’t erase your worth. It doesn’t strip away your beauty. You’re not less because something’s missing. You’re different, yes. But different can be powerful.
She is broken, but she’s wonderful. Disabled, but still vibrant. Scattered, but still here.
So are we.
Stay shining. 🌟

Alt text:
Digital artwork of a purple-skinned doll with long neon-green pigtails, sitting on a yellow stool against a black and purple background. One of her legs has detached and lies on the floor, while two small eyes rest at the bottom left. A robotic blue arm and a pink eye cover dangle from strings in the top right. The doll has a somber expression, symbolising the experience of being broken yet still beautiful, representing chronic pain and disability. The piece is signed “Sarah ’25 #ChronicPainDoll” and includes the text “KawaiiDollDecora” twice — once at the bottom centre and once inside a pink heart to the left of the doll.
Daggers Inn is an atmospheric mystery that tells the story of an enigmatic young woman who arrives in a remote English village to uncover the truth about her sister’s murder.

This book is seeking contributors who are able to express how their disability and/or mental health conditions impact them on the daily.
It is to raise awareness in the hope of moving towards reducing ableism.
It will give people insight into the realities of actual conditions as opposed to basing things off stigma and stereotypes.
It will cover invisible illnesses and how society fail to grasp those with chronic pain conditions too.
I am the author of this.

A Corpse in Kensington is a feature that is as much a psychological horror film as it is a romantic comedy.
Featuring Michael Madsen (Kill Bill, Reservoir Dogs, The Hateful Eight), Ryan Bollman (Children of the Corn II, The NeverEnding Story III, iCarly) and starring Derrick Acosta (Mega64), this is a dark and personal film from writer / director Brian Patrick Butler.
