This project, released May 2024, was where I feel the Score Composition took a massive step up. I had already worked on a score style piece and now I had more ideas of how I was going to write this one. I had been heavily influenced by the likes of Hans Zimmer and John Williams (who I’ve since learnt has many Holst influences) and the work on films they’d done. I loved the building up and heavy percussive elements of Zimmer which is why many of my score pieces are almost ‘anthem’ like and continue to build over time whereas Williams had some very interesting choir parts as well as great counterpoint ideas for strings and brass. My main focus with this piece was to see how I could implement these elements myself.
I really enjoyed this project from start to finish and again there are definite improvements from the previous project (Amelioration) in terms of production, writing, mixing and mastering. I felt I could be more intentional with a lot of this one rather than trial and error of writing parts and as much as I will always look for way to improve my music (I’m incredibly harsh and pedantic) I feel now looking back that it was when I started to gain confidence that this was something I’d like to continue with and hopefully work on these sorts of projects as work in the future, if given the opportunity.
This piece means a lot to me as it was unknowingly to a lot of people dedicated to a friend of mine who has passed away earlier in the year. I felt it was important that I represent such an amazing person and the powerful personality they had in a way that I could build within my own legacy and as a reminder when I listen back of them. Music is a great emotional outlet and I think good and bad emotion can create the strongest writing!

I really got into film music and the effect it has on the visuals from a range of genres of film but I found epic score writing particularly impressive. With not a lot of prior knowledge on how to write it, but having listened to a fair bit, I decided I wanted to see what I could compose in this format.
This piece taught me massively about writing orchestral parts as well as many theoretical techniques but most importantly starting to understand mixing balance across lots of instruments for big crescendos. Each time I found a ‘problem’ I would and continue to just research multiple points of view from different sources to build an overall understanding and then move forward with the knowledge but in my preferred way.
It’s a 12 minute piece of music, that I released in 2024, and I love the idea of these projects evolving as the track progresses to keep building up excitement and anticipation of these big crescendos. For me, writing crescendos is about creating an atmosphere that the listener can’t help but be drawn to and with film these important visual moments can then have the energy they deserve surrounding them.
Again as much as the production and mastering isn’t where id strive to get it to these days, I think its important for me as a composer to keep building on what I could do to always take each project to that next step and to be honest I had no right to even attempt this with the knowledge I had at the time let alone it turn out as well as it did.

This was my very first album I released back in 2023. It’s fully instrumental acoustic guitar and I wrote this originally because I was interested in music creation and having a way to put some negativity in life into something more positive. I did all the recording, production and mastering myself for all 10 tracks on this album albeit at an earlier level of production that I have since built on and improved over time. This was also when I was using GarageBand and it’s important for me to see how much progress has been made in terms of sound engineering since this point but I still stand by it musically!
