It had a major impact on me and my style of art making because the style and subject matter of those cartoons appealed to me and my creative imagination. In addition to this, these cartoons are also a blueprint for my imagination to use them as a way to escape reality and flee to a place where I had control over myself and things around me. As I grew older, I realized that none of the characters in these shows actually looked like me, and thus had a negative effect on how I viewed myself as a woman of color. Knowing that was the cause inspired me to draw people that were familiar to me in the anime style that I adored, using a theory of psychology to reverse the mindset I had growing up. I also liked creating my own characters with their own storyline while being loosely based on certain iconic figures like dragons or fox spirits and the like. My work is based in the digital world, as that is where cartoons and anime are born and flourish. While the medium lives in technology, my work can be viewed in both traditional and digital so that it can be seen by a broader audience. My works are a mix of storyboarding along with character designing, often having the character interacting with the environment or the environment being changed as a result of the characters actions.
