I recently completed a detailed and challenging enclosure modification project that originated from a long-term LinkedIn connection. The client first reached out two years ago, then invited me to work through Upwork after reviewing my portfolio. He shared a STEP file of his enclosure design and explained that he faced multiple issues after 3D printing. His goal was to receive a fully corrected, error-free STL file that would print successfully on the first attempt. As he had already spent a significant amount on failed prototypes, he made it clear that there could be no further revisions once delivered.
The project began with five initial issues, which later expanded to eight additional problems related to clearances, alignment, wall thickness, snap fits, and overall structural integrity. Since the project required a flawless result, I proposed a step-by-step workflow. For each issue, I created a comparison showing the original design and my corrected version using screenshots and simplified drawings. I sent each update for his approval before moving on to the next task. This process allowed the client to verify every correction carefully and ensured we moved forward with complete clarity.
We continued this iterative verification approach for a month. I dedicated long hours and several all-night sessions to ensure accuracy, especially since the client depended on a perfect final output. After completing all corrections, I delivered the updated STL files. The client successfully printed the revised enclosure, and all issues were fully resolved. His satisfaction made the effort worthwhile, and I appreciated the trust he placed in my work.
Following this project, the same client assigned two additional projects: one for a brand-new enclosure design and another for a product animation. Building long-term professional relationships like this is one of the most rewarding parts of my freelancing journey.…I recently completed a detailed and challenging enclosure modification project that originated from a long-term LinkedIn connection.
