Hello! My name is Samantha and I am an artist and designer who specialises in book cover artwork and design for TV and film. I’m from Merseyside in the UK. I generally spend my days drinking ridiculous amounts of black coffee, and listening to 90s hip-hop while I draw or design on my Mac. Apparently singing along badly (so I’m told). I have a varied portfolio of published book cover designs. I’m currently working with two of the big 5 international publishing houses, but my passion is helping authors and writers get the cover they deserve when self publishing. My artwork and designs dress over 50 published books an old in Waterstones, Barnes & Noble, Amazon, and held in the British National Library and the vaults of Cambridge and Oxford universities. My portfolio consists of illustration covers, photo collage and mixed media composition. Photography is also a skill of mine. I have a 1st class degree in Graphic Design that included photography classes and I use these and license stock images for my designs. I was shortlisted for the 2022 Brighton Fringe, Print for Design award with one of my designs featuring photography. I recently left my full-time job as a designer for a TV production company, creating graphic props for Hollyoaks on Channel 4 and developed title logos for new shows and films that head off to Netflix, Apple TV, the BBC etc. These mainly consisted of book to screen adaptations. I now focus my time on book covers but I do freelance work with TV & Film development occasionally. I’m highly conceptual and can deliver concepts that express the content of your manuscript in ways you won’t have considered. I also select colour palette and typography that expresses the content. I do not use AI in any part of my process, development or final artwork. I commercially license any stock photography from a reputable library I pay a subscription to.
