I am a generalist with a strong linguistic and language-industry background.
I have extensive experience in project and program management, especially in designing and executing multilingual content strategies. (I spent 23 years at Microsoft, mostly in PM roles.)
Currently, I am volunteering as Localization Director at the non-profit Translation Commons where I define localization strategy, lead cross-functional global teams, and ensure high-quality delivery across diverse languages, domains, and communities. In parallel, I serve as Chief Technology and AI Advisor for the Mayan Languages Preservation Project, where I advance the use of AI, machine translation, and small language models to improve digital access for speakers of Q’eqchi’ and other Mayan languages.
I am also an experienced educator, teaching localization and language technology at the University of Washington and at other higher-education institutions.
My core strengths include localization leadership, AI-driven language solutions, multilingual program management, low-resource language enablement, and industry education.
