I'm Stephen Gallagher, an Emmy Award-winning composer and music editor with over twenty years in film and television. I've had the privilege to work on global blockbusters alongside legends like Peter Jackson, Brian Eno, Ed Sheeran, Nick Cave, and Junkie XL, as well as Emmy-winning television productions, independent documentaries, and contemporary theatre and dance. I’m driven by the thrill of making sounds and worlds out of sound, shaping music that supports character and story. Recent highlights include scoring Kenji Kamiyama’s The Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim (2024), and winning the Emmy in 2026 for Outstanding Music Direction and Composition on Secrets at Red Rocks with David Long. My work spans everything from The Hobbit songs such as Blunt The Knives and The Torture Song to collaborations on INSiDE and Mystic for the BBC, as well as contributions to The Lovely Bones and other acclaimed projects. I’m endlessly drawn to how music can deepen emotion and texture in storytelling.
