For my Edit & Color class, I created a short documentary about a small canned seafood company using four hours of interview and b-roll footage. I shaped the material into a cohesive story focused on the “little guy,” highlighting how being a small business allows them to prioritize quality and people. I also cut the music to preserve natural endings and used it to elevate the emotional tone of the story.

I focused on creating a clear beginning, middle, and end, giving both characters distinct goals and personalities. I captured high-quality audio using lavaliers to ensure clear dialogue from the actors. The project was edited using over eight pieces of coverage to enhance storytelling and highlight different perspectives and emotions through shot selection and angles. I collaborated closely with the cinematographer, cast, and co-director to ensure everyone understood and supported the story.
I had created this project before and wanted to remake it with another year of film school experience. I emphasized collaboration by assembling a crew to help bring the vision to life. In this version, I focused on aligning the story and film elements with the genre through editing style, color grading, and adding foley sounds I created to make the film more immersive.

The director posted on Discord seeking an editor, and I was excited to join the project. I collaborated with the director throughout all stages of production to understand and realize their narrative vision, including creating empathy for both characters. I worked through production challenges, such as limited coverage, imperfect audio, and a underdeveloped script, to craft a cohesive and engaging final film.
