UX/UI Designer - Jobnet Modernization Project (EDORA / STAR)
Duration: ~1.5 years | Launch: Scheduled for Oct/Nov 2025
As part of the national Jobnet modernization project, I was brought on as a UX/UI designer through EDORA, working in collaboration with STAR (The Danish Agency
for Labour Market and Recruitment). Having just graduated as a UX designer from the IT University of Copenhagen, I initially shared the role with a senior UX designer during the first six months. I took full ownership of the UI design, leveraging my
previous experience as a graphic designer, while all UX-related tasks were carried out collaboratively.
My main responsibility was to lead the redesign of the user interface, including visual identity (logo, color scheme, typography) and a complete overhaul of the user journey across the platform. Our design approach was citizen-centered, aiming to create a Jobnet that felt simpler, more intuitive, and more personalized. Key goals included reducing friction in user flows, minimizing cognitive overload, and making the platform feel more approachable - without compromising its role as a trustworthy public authority.
We followed an iterative design process, engaging end-users throughout via interviews and prototype tests. The platform was built on ‘Det Fælles Design System’, but we also created new components to give the interface a warmer and more human feel. A significant reduction in content complexity was achieved through careful prioritization of information and functionality.
Due to budget constraints, my involvement concluded after approximately 1.5 years. From that point, the remaining work was continued by the large development team
of 40-50 colleagues from STAR, Twoday, Edora, and Netcompany (later replaced by NNIT).
JOBNET LOGO & STYLE
As I was assigned the role as UX/UI consultant at STAR, I had to create a brand new design for the platform. This included Logo, colors and a complete designguide to the site. We were told to give 3 drafts for designs, small, medium and large. This method refers to Small = the cheapest and fastest solution, Medium = a solution that fits the brief, but comes with new ideas which are achievable in the timeframe, and Large = a completely new and innovative design, which might be a time (financial) challenge. We presented the three design directions for STAR, and they chose the medium solution.
JOBNET ILLUSTRATIONS
I have made illustrations for the Jobnet platform and for STAR presentations relating to Jobnet. The illustrations for Jobnet were primarily created for ‘infocards’ and guidelines, and for STAR with the purpose to be an explanatory supplement for speeches in relation to ‘Arbejdsmarkedsreformen’.…UX/UI Designer - Jobnet Modernization Project (EDORA / STAR)
