I’m Tracey Spicer AM, a journalist, author and broadcaster with more than 30 years anchoring national programs for ABC TV and radio, Network Ten and Sky News. I am the inaugural national convenor of Women in Media and a sought-after keynote speaker and emcee in the Asia-Pacific on artificial intelligence, social justice and equity.
I have written Man-Made: How the bias of the past is being built into the future, which was longlisted for a Walkley Award and won the Social Responsibility category in the Australian Business Book Awards. My reporting and advocacy have been recognised with the NSW Premier’s Woman of the Year (2019), the Sydney Peace Prize (shared with Tarana Burke for the Me Too movement) and the National Award for Excellence in Women’s Leadership from Women & Leadership Australia. ABC TV highlighted my #metoo work in Silent No More, and I was named among Australian Financial Review’s 100 Women of Influence in 2018. For three decades of media and charity work, I have been awarded the Order of Australia. I have produced documentaries in Bangladesh, Kenya, Uganda, PNG and India, and I am an ambassador for ActionAid, Your Side, the Ethnic Business Awards, Emerge Australia and Purple Our World, and a Patron of the Pancreatic Cancer Alliance.
