Hey there! I have to say, I'm first and foremost a film lover. Everything I do creatively is influenced by the things that I watch that affect and inspire me the most. I just loved watching movies first, and that gave me the passion to study them, and now help make them. I'm primarily an editor, having been self-taught for about 8 years and now proficient in Adobe Premiere Pro. I've edited student films while I was at university as well as my own personal work such as my film edits Instagram page "The Datta Cut". I enjoy and feel I have a knack for editing rhythmically and to music. I also enjoy screenwriting, and have written un-produced short films for a screenwriting course. Most of my writing has been similarly recreational, including a feature I've recently started sketching out which I'm quite enjoying, but I also write creatively and critically in other ways. I write a monthly "What to Watch" section for my college's student radio channel WMRE.live, where I break down the upcoming film and TV releases of a given month and provide recommendations about what to watch. I am also more than happy to serve as a runner or an extra pair of hands on set - my work on student films has strengthened my skills in working as a team with the rest of the crew and handling equipment. Most of all, I'm just excited to meet and work with similarly creative people on here!

    "Everyone Left" - Short Film

I helped make this short film during my time at university. I was the Sound Mixer, 1st AC and DIT. Since it was only a crew of four, everyone took up multiple responsibilities on set. It was most of our first experiences working together to make a film, and we were in our first year of college, hence the somewhat amateurish quality at times. But it was a really fun learning experience, and I’m proud of what we came up with!

The film follows a girl who dreams every night that she’s entirely alone at her university campus. She enjoys the isolation, thoughtfully wandering around campus and sliding down railings. One night, she meets another person in her dream - a boy. They strike up a friendship, each believing the other to be a figment of their imagination. The opportunity to finally have some company in their shared dream is something they learn to greatly appreciate as they grow closer and have fun together in the freedom of dream logic.

"The Datta Cut" - Film Edits Page

    https://www.instagram.com/the_datta_cut/

I created an Instagram page for short edits of films I like to music that I felt accompanies the film well. I enjoy this project very much, and aside from its value to me personally, I feel it has improved my sense of pacing and rhythm in my editing, as well as shot/clip selection and transitions.

"What to Watch this Month" for WMRE.live Student Radio

    https://www.instagram.com/wmre.live/

I wrote and designed a monthly “What to Watch” section for my school Emory University’s student radio channel WMRE.live’s Instagram page. The section would include upcoming film and TV recommendations, as well as pick and predictions for awards ceremonies like the Emmys and the Oscars.

    "Synergy" - Short Film

I edited this short film for Emory University’s film club ETV’s fall ‘22 production. The film is a spoof mockumentary that follows a business-minded university student as she attempts to help better market the school’s struggling cinema association. The clash between the protagonist’s brash entrepreneurship and outlandish marketing ideas and the cinema association members’ pretentious insistence on artistry provides the film’s awkward, secondhand embarrassment, and it devolves into absurdity as the protagonist’s marketing idea is finally attempted.

My edit emphasises this humour by allowing for silence and pauses at the appropriate moments, cutting at the right places, and interspersing talking head footage of the characters to illustrate their point of view on the madness of the situation.
