Graduated with a MFA in Illustration Practice at the Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA), my work sits at the intersection of children's book illustration, publication design, and book arts. Through my graduate studies, I developed a strong foundation in color, composition, and visual appeal for young audiences. My visual style is soft, colorful, and playful, which is especially important in children’s products. Through my graphic design training, I am also confident in Children's book design including typography, typesetting, layout design, and print production workflows. My thesis project is a nonfiction children’s book that I wrote, illustrated, and designed, providing hands-on experience in page layout, integrating text and imagery, and producing physical mockups and dummy books. I have developed three children's book pitches, and my other children's illustration works span lifestyle illustration, surface, and pattern design. I am proficient in Adobe InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator and enjoy creating engaging visual experiences that support storytelling and learning for young audiences. My works can be viewed at my personal website, wenxuanhe.com. Thank you for your time and consideration.
