Painter at Inner City Living

Followed safety protocols and guidelines when using power tools, handling materials and dealing with mould; ensured workspace is well organised and wore correct PPE to adhere to safety guidelines. Collaborated with team to ensure that projects were completed to a high standard, including ensuring a smooth coating on walls and reviewing each other’s work to catch flaws and apply the correct paint on surfaces (lead-based paint on asbestos, anti-mould paint on mould). Demonstrated effective time management to complete projects on schedule and organised tools and equipment to maintain a clean and efficient work area in cramped living spaces.

Volunteer Shadowing Nurse at Birmingham Children’s Hospital

July 1, 2023 - July 7, 2023

Shadowed nurse Natalie Lawson in the haemophilia unit for a week in July 2023. Learned about patient care, how nurses respond to different behaviours, and how to keep patients comfortable and happy. Gained understanding of problems and aiding people in dealing with them in a non-confrontational and patient manner, accommodating different needs for different children. Learned about blood-related disorders, the brain, and surgery.
