I have been writing songs since the 70's without much happening so I gave up a few times and life got in the way as well as British publishers ignoring me in the past. (That seems to be changing recently) I sang semi professional for 16 years doing covers of Elvis, Roy Orbison, Billy Fury etc and others from the 50's 60's 70's. I gave that up in 2008. I retired from my normal work as a civil servant in 2017 and started to pursue once again my love of songwriting in 2018, as now I have the time and concentration. I am with a publisher now unexclusively, MERF Music in Nashville and have been with them 12 months as of dec 2020. I have had 2 re-listens and 4 holds in that time, as we get an artist roster of predominately country artists. None of those went to cut. I have elsewhere on music xray had 3 songs accepted for movies (2 in a xmas movie and 1 in a children'shalloween movie) but of course that has been delayed because of covid, so maybe they'll be out next year 2021. I have some 47 demos of my songs, which I write for either male or female artists and many genres including: country/folk/pop/MOR/ballads/moderate rock/rock'n'roll/children/christmas/comedy/easy listening and also vintage styles of 60's 70' 80's. I would like to write for publisher who can get my songs to the artists and/or artists who are looking for songs away from the humdrum usual modern samey country stuff on offer at the moment and away from the rap and hip hop, which I find awful. It's only a matter of time for proper music to make a comeback (although there are some outstanding artists doing very well at the moment) and I'm sure there are artists frustrated by the lack of opportunity to get into that market and support. I did release a couple my my own songs under the name Vince Burke and a couple of others where I own the master rights but they didn't do a great deal through lack of radio play dominated by the big guns. If you want a mutually beneficial relationship on the usual music splits. ie: I am only intersted in my songwriting share and of course 50% of any sync for ads or movies, once again the usual songwriting share. If we need to make a small contribution on this site to make it happen, then let's have a go. Listen to most of my songs on youtube under gallantknightxxx and see if you like them first, and I am obviously writing as I speak so there will be more, and I have a backlog too. I can also write songs to suit a particular voice or theme or genre if requested, so long as it is in my range of genres. You may wish to use my songs for other purposes like marketing, ads etc of which we can negotiate. I haven't put a fee up on my portfolio as my main aim is some sort of mutual arrangment.
