I completed studying Media Technology at Manchester Metropolitan University in 2013 graduating with a BSc. My course involved a wide range of topics including video editing, lighting, vision mixing, 3D modelling, character rigging, rendering and animating. In my second year I was part of a group that filmed a lecture for BCS, The Chartered Institute for IT, which appeared on their website. Each year the course was supplemented with different topics including; Computer Systems, Programming, Multimedia Authoring and Design, Motion capture and animation and Real Time 3D. I began my professional career working for Blackmagic Design, developing my skillset and knowledge, especially with regards to post-production. Whilst at Blackmagic Design I was the post-production specialist within technical support for the EMEA region, having first worked as a technical support consultant. As a technical support consultant, it was my duty to provide front line support for customers using all of our products and I was expected to have an in depth knowledge of not only the products but also the basic principles of broadcasting and the science behind technology such as cameras, switchers and routers. In my role as post-production specialist I provided 2nd line support for all post production products. This required me to answer both emails and phone calls from customers whilst also act as a resource for other members of not just the technical support department, but the whole EMEA office. This covers all products from I/O devices to software, with the majority of my work being based around DaVinci Resolve. After over 6 years at Blackmagic I decided to move into freelance work and started my own video production and consulting company, Davidson Media Services. In this new role I have worked as a videographer, editor and colourist as well as a consultant for clients like the Pro Video department at Scan Computers Ltd. In my role as a consultant I have helped the Pro Video department grow their sales, on-board larger brands and writing both technical scripts and web pages for their offerings. I have also helped maintain and spec all equipment relating to post production, including Mac OS, Windows and Linux systems and have attended IBC, ISE and BVE tradeshows to demonstrate products and features to customers. Whilst I am a certified master trainer for DaVinci Resolve I am competent in a wide range of post-production applications including Adobe Premiere Pro & Avid Media Composer. I have always loved the creative process and have applied my skills to some incredibly fun projects for a range of clients. I am a hard working individual who is willing to learn and works well with other people. I consider myself a team player that is approachable, friendly, sociable and responsible. I am used to working with people of varied backgrounds, can adapt to situations and work well under pressure.
