Alan Bay is a singer-songwriter and guitarist from Balneario Marisol - Oriente. He blends British/Irish folk with elements of blues, progressive rock, jazz, and world music, among others. A distinctive trait of his music is the use of open or alternative tunings, complemented by the atmospheric textures created with his multi-effects pedal during instrumental passages. Although Alan has been writing music since the early 2000s, he began performing his compositions and instrumentals in 2012.
Alan Bay has showcased his music at various open mics and venues in Buenos Aires and across his region, including cities like Bahía Blanca, Coronel Dorrego, Tres Arroyos, Mar del Plata, and his hometown. His performances have included appearances at the Monte Hermoso Blues and Jazz Festival on two occasions, sharing the stage with artists such as La Mississippi, Don Vilanova, and other local acts
In December 2014, he released “Muses,” his debut EP featuring five acoustic tracks recorded at Estudios Kualquiera in Tres Arroyos. In July 2018, he released “Crafting,” a live EP featuring four tracks recorded at “La Grilla” open mic in Buenos Aires. In January 2023, Alan released “Live at the CCM,” a live album recorded with the Sunset Trio at the Coronel Dorrego Cultural Centre. Continuing with live recordings, in March 2024, the trio released “Live in Marisol,” recorded at the David Mathov Amphitheater in Balneario Marisol. February 2025 saw the release of “Home: Live in Marisol II”, another live album by Alan Bay Sunset Trio. Currently, Alan is in the process of recording his first full-length album, collaborating with guest musicians from his native country and abroad, including the Czech Republic, United Kingdom, Australia, and others.
In addition to his solo performances, Alan leads two bands, each featuring musicians who make his compositions grow in unique ways. Alan Bay Sunset Trio includes local musicians on bass and percussion, adding elements of progressive rock and world music to his folk songs. Alan Bay and the Transatlantics, on the other hand, is a quintet from Bahía Blanca that blends blues, jazz, and Irish/Scottish traditional music with Alan’s singer-songwriter style, evoking echoes of the 1970s folk revival and the contemporary British folk scene.
Over the past five years, Alan has also collaborated as a lyricist with Czech singer-songwriter Venika Hartlyn, and he looks forward to future collaborations with artists from around the world.
