Digital Publishing Assistant at Gill Dublin

Responsible for managing the digital assets for our education titles, front list and back list, creating web-optimized eBooks and uploading them to our hosting platform. Built and maintained relationships with Gill’s authors, freelancers and other vendors. Organised the files and metadata for the 1000+ digital assets (audio files, PowerPoints, etc.) included with our secondary music title ‘Music Maker’, ensuring these were uploaded to our website correctly. Took on production and design tasks, such as creating 200+ worksheets for our primary maths series ‘Mighty Maths’, using Adobe Illustrator and InDesign. Used UX and HTML skills to update and redesign our legacy digital product, the ‘Mighty Maths Toolkit’, updating the layout and artwork in response to customer feedback and to align with newer ‘Mighty Maths’ products, ensuring brand consistency. Worked closely with production, marketing and editorial.

Trained in many areas of publishing, receiving training from digital, marketing, editorial and production teams. Developed skills in Adobe and Microsoft programmes, building foundational knowledge of the publishing industry. Promoted to Digital Publishing Assistant after six months.

Illustrator/Formatter at Retrospect Journal

Created illustrations for journal interiors, the cover of the June 2023 issue, and merchandise (hoodies and posters). Formatted the interior layout of the journal in InDesign. In final year, acted as the lead of the illustration team and served as liaison between columnists and illustrators to ensure the best finished product.
