Ana Carvalho

Hello! I am Ana Rita, a PhD candidate in Pharmaceutical Sciences specializing in toxicology. My research focuses on persistent and age-dependent neurotoxicity of chemotherapy drugs like doxorubicin and mitoxantrone in adult and aged CD-1 mice, employing in vivo studies, immunohistochemistry, biochemical analyses and advanced imaging to map structural and functional brain changes. I am passionate about advancing our understanding of drug-induced cognitive impairment and translating preclinical findings into safer therapies for patients.

I am driven to collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to elucidate molecular pathways and aging effects in the brain, with the aim of informing safer treatment strategies and improving patient outcomes in oncology and neurodegenerative contexts.
