Ariel Cascadura is a screenwriter and director from Bahia, Brazil. He is part of the talent network at Projeto Paradiso, founder and executive producer at Calundu Filmes, and was one of the co-creators of Saturnema Filmes in 2016. He directed a crime feature film funded through the Paulo Gustavo Law, "A Escuta," for which he wrote the screenplay and served as executive producer. He wrote the feature film about masculinity, "Tragam-me a Cabeça de Orum Bomani," which won best screenplay at FRAPA 2021, the Fade to Black Festival, and BrLab. BrLab also won an award at the Griot Laboratory with consulting from Projeto Paradiso and was selected for the international co-production pitching at the Guiões Festival in Portugal, where it received accreditation for PLOT 2022. He was selected for Nordeste Lab, Panlab, Cinema Negro em Ação (sponsored by Netflix Brazil), and the APAN Audiovisual Market (sponsored by Amazon Studios), of which he is also a member. Director of the documentary series “A CHAVE” (2021), by Têm Dendê Produções, he has directed more than 10 short films and written music videos. He served as curator at the 50th edition of the Gramado Film Festival in the short film category, as curator at Frapa 2023 in the feature film screenplay category, and also as a workshop facilitator at the II Itinerant Exhibition of Black Cinemas Mohamed Bamba, as curator at Rota IV - Rio de Janeiro Audiovisual Screenwriting Festival and at the Cinefone Festival. Curator and co-creator of the Películas Negras training project, script consultant for the feature film “Sol a Pino”. His films have been selected for national and international festivals, including Los Angeles, New York, Romania and India, and have been shown on streaming platforms such as “Originou” and “Wolo TV”.
