I was born in Rio de Janeiro in 1956 and started piano lessons at the age of six, which helped develop my technique and musical maturity. By 1978 I began a long career as a pianist and arranger for Brazilian icons such as Djavan, Gal Costa, Simone, and Milton Nascimento, while also joining forces with international artists in various projects. I released my first solo album, Good Friends, in 1994, sharing the stage with Hermeto Pascoal, Paulo Moura, and Roberto Silva, among others. In 2007 I moved to Europe, settling in Portugal after a brief period in Paris, and in 2008 released Contrasts in Portuguese and European venues.
