Hello! My name is Benjamin Vlad but most people call me Ben. I’ve been working in post production audio, Sound Design and Re-Recording Mixer for 15 years. I have a deep passion for sound, and for working with people creatively. I love to help people use sound to tell their story. The way I see it, sound has the ability to elevate the emotional content of a piece or subvert the meaning altogether, adding a layer of complexity. In my work, I strive to harness this power and create interesting and provocative sound design that is grounded in reality but also larger than life. Wherever I can, I try to make the fantastical, believable, and the believable, intriguing! Sound can also be fun, and funny! I’m always looking for moments to add an extra joke wherever I can. My career kicked off when I graduated with a Bachelor of Music Technology from Griffith University Queensland Conservatorium in 2007 and was awarded the Griffith medal for the highest GPA. In that year, I landed a sound design and mix gig on an animated series for the ABC and I was totally hooked on post audio! Since then I developed my skills by freelancing at many studios including The Post Lounge and have been lucky enough to be a part of some amazing projects, some of which can be found by visiting the Vlad Audio page or over at IMDB. Most recently, I have been operating my own commercial studio in Newstead and have really enjoyed taking on the additional responsibility of managing post audio workflows for longform projects that are being delivered internationally to Disney, Netflix and Universal. This has meant that I need to effectively manage my own time, data and assets as well as engage external providers to ensure that I am able to deliver quality audio mixes and deliverables, within budget and on time. Thank you for your time. Ben
