I am a Software Engineer DC Thomson as part of the content team at Beano Studios. I worked in this role for six years. My role was to program web games from the ground up. For these projects I took lead on developing bespoke games. On top of being the main programmer for the team I pitched, designed, wrote art briefs and play tested my projects. I worked with the Beano Design team to develop assets for our games, worked with a Beano comic artist for one of our Halloween games and developed many book tie-in games. On top of these tasks I was given the opportunity to expand my skill set to copywriting, conducting SEO research and using the WordPress CMS. During my time at Abertay University I studied Computer Games Application Development and received a BSc with Honours. I learned how to develop mechanics, using C++ frameworks and developed skills in C# using Unity. I learned how work in a team of different disciplines including artists, designers, producers and sound engineers. In my free time I love to play games, write and play roller derby. Playing a team sport has helped me build good leaderships, communication and team skills. I find roller derby helped me learn how to take charge and take responsibility for my learning and work. In my league I have taken leadership rolls where I have coached our newer skater intake and co-hosted a new skater learning event. I am an excellent problem solver and have worked remotely for 5 years and in office for 1. I am good at managing my own time and schedule. I love to take charge and find solutions. I work well in a team and have experience in many different game engines and programming languages.
