I’m a copywriter, QA specialist, and video editor based around Kingston upon Hull, and I love turning complex information into clear, engaging content. Over the last several years I’ve written and edited website articles and expert blog posts, drafted news-style updates from research, and created supporting assets like email and social media copy. In my freelancing work, I also keep quality and accuracy front and centre—using QA thinking to help ensure content and deliverables are consistent, polished, and on time. My background also spans customer-facing roles where communication and calm problem-solving mattered every day, alongside experience in marketing and digital content production. I’ve contributed to educational “Wake Up Wednesday” style guides and other public-facing materials, and I’ve built experience in independent time management while working with teams and clients. Outside formal work, I continue to develop my creative side through game-writing and worldbuilding projects, including tabletop RPG design work and narrative systems that draw on science-fiction and fantasy inspiration.…

Work Experience

Freelance Copywriter, QA Specialist, and Video Editor at N/A (Self-Employed)
February 28, 2026 - Present
Using the skills I learned during my time at The National College, I have since transitioned into freelance work. My primary contractor at the moment is actually The National College itself, who specifically asked me to remain available as a consultant, a QA specialist, and a writer. I’ve found freelance work to suit me very well, thus far. My tenure at The National College taught me a lot about managing one’s own time and holding oneself to deadlines - both talents which have proven invaluable as a freelancer.
Freelance Copywriter, QA Specialist, and Video Editor
February 1, 2026 - Present
Works as a freelancer providing writing, QA support, and video editing services. Applies a quality-focused approach to ensure deliverables are accurate, consistent in style, and delivered to deadlines. Also uses research and drafting processes to turn longer expert material into concise, digestible outputs when required.
Copywriter, QA Specialist, and Content/Video Support (Consultant) at The National College
September 1, 2021 - February 1, 2026
Created and edited website copy for expert blog posts and news articles, maintaining scrutiny requirements for freely available content. Worked in two modes: editing expert-authored drafts to match The National College tone, and researching education-sector developments (including relevant legislation) to draft new concise news updates from scratch. Manually formatted uploads to keep style consistent. Contributed copy for additional internal projects including podcast scripts, email and social media copy, and helped produce and update “Wake Up Wednesday” educational guides focused on safeguarding children and young people online; delivered reliably with minimal oversight while maintaining quality.
Senior Copywriter at The National College
September 1, 2021 - February 13, 2026
My position with TNC covered a range of duties, all within the realm of content writing and editing. I created and edited copy for the expert blogs and news articles hosted on the National College website, which had to stand-up to scrutiny due to their status as freely available content. This process took two forms. On one hand, I took copy written by experts in respective fields and applied edits to bring it in-line with The National College’s style and voice. On the other, I performed research into the latest developments in the education sector - such as the passing of relevant laws - and drafted articles on these subjects from scratch, condensing what were often many pages of information into a concise, digestible news update featuring any and all relevant details. The latter form of these had ‘The National College’ credited as their author, if you wish to view them yourself. In the case of both of these breeds of content, I uploaded them to our website myself, manually formatting them to fit a clean and consistent style. I also lent my writing to several other projects within the business - such as podcast scripts of varying lengths, email and social media copy, and web page content. I also contributed to many of the company’s “Wake Up Wednesday” guides, all of which were hosted on the site. My contributions - and collaboration with a great team of creators - helped ensure the company’s content was consistently high-quality, engaging, and always shipped on-time. The “Wake Up Wednesday” guides are a particular point of pride for me, as this content reached many parents and educators across the country, offering expert advice on safeguarding children and young people from the potential risks of the digital world. It felt deeply rewarding to assist those on the frontlines of teaching and raising the next generation. This role was by far the most flexible I have held in my career, with everyone in the business trusted to complete their work on-time and to a good standard without unnecessary oversight. Not only did I find myself more than capable of doing this, I actively thrived in this environment. I absolutely adore the art of writing in all its forms, fully immersing myself into my work. My annual reviews with my manager always came back overwhelmingly positive, and I feel I truly came into my own both in this position and at this company. I believe I was highly valued here - considering that I survived two rounds of redundancies in less than a year. I also survived a third the following year, and had to actively persuade the company to accept my application for voluntary redundancy, as I believed it was time to move on to bigger and better things. Thus, my employment with The National College finally came to an end in February 2026, after four-and-a-half years of service.
Commercial Executive at Biffa Waste Services Ltd.
January 6, 2021 - June 30, 2021
My role for Biffa featured a diverse and ever-developing set of responsibilities, from digital marketing to administrative assistance. The majority of my time was split between providing an extra set of hands to the company’s Regional Business Development Manager, and independently conceiving and executing marketing campaigns online, with the goal of bringing new customers to the business. In order to perform to a good standard in this role, it was imperative that I be able to reliably manage my own workload, track my own progress, and conduct my own research - all of which I was able to do without supervision. Furthermore, exceptional writing ability and creativity was a must-have for the position, as much of my time was spent managing the online marketing campaigns and internal communications for the Humberside region. One such example of this was the company’s LinkedIn account, which I made use of to promote the business and reach out to other customers. Another was the bi-weekly email campaign conducted towards the end of the lockdown. With restrictions lifted at the time, I took it upon myself to reach out to those potential clients that would be re-opening for perhaps the first time since the December lockdown, advertising our services and encouraging them to seek us out for their waste management needs. Over the course of several days, I conducted my own research of these businesses, gathering contact details and other important information, before compiling it into an Excel spreadsheet of my own design. Not only was the resulting campaign a huge success, with multiple new customers approaching us almost immediately to sign contracts, but the spreadsheet in-question was adopted by the Humberside commercial team, and passed throughout our sales force for them to make use of. In summary, I took to my role at Biffa with great enthusiasm and personal drive, picking up many new skills and merely strengthening others through daily practice. While my contract with Biffa unfortunately expired, I am grateful for the time I spent there, and feel that it has prepared me for all other jobs in the realm of marketing and content writing.
