THE DEPARTURE (A PARTIDA) – Grupo Trampulim
A Poetic Journey Through the Art of Saying Goodbye.
“The Departure” is a multidisciplinary performance by the renowned Brazilian company Grupo Trampulim. Blending the language of clowning, physical theater, and live music, the show explores one of the most universal human experiences: the act of leaving, the weight of suitcases, and the beauty of new beginnings.
The Concept
Two clowns find themselves at a station—or perhaps a crossroads of life. Surrounded by vintage suitcases and a nostalgic atmosphere, they navigate the delicate balance between the desire to stay and the necessity of going. Through a non-linear narrative, the performance transforms the “goodbye” into a celebration of memory and the unknown.
Music as a Character
In “The Departure,” music is not just a backdrop; it is a vital heartbeat. Under the musical direction of Chaya Vazquez, the soundscape is woven live, using instruments and rhythmic textures that dictate the emotional pace of the scene. The soundtrack bridges the gap between the comic and the profound, guiding the audience through moments of laughter and quiet reflection.
