Chloe Dam is a Vietnamese-Australian illustrator, animator, filmmaker and currently second year student at UTS studying Bachelor of Animation Production.
She often explores a diverse range of mediums including anywhere from watercolour, oils, acrylic, digital software, to crayons and playing with her food to using anything she can get her hands on whether its secondhand dollar store crayons or fancy ink pens.
Similar to the materials she uses, her artist practice is often chaotic, creating iterations upon iterations using different methods to create a unique output with great attention to detail. Her work is inspired by the beauty of mundane, often overlooked details, liminal spaces and shape design.
She has won several awards including 1st place Senior Award for the competition Operation Art in which her work toured around many children’s hospitals in Sydney but now resides in Westmead Children’s Hospital. She is also the winner of several Sefton Archies portraiture awards.
In her free time she enjoys observing the simple details of everyday life, exploring suburban areas and getting lost with friends, searching for places that don’t feel real, and running around the park with her dog.
