Hi, I’m Chuck Voelter. I was born in Temple, Texas, and grew up with a love of music and building things—drums at five, professional gigs by fifteen, and carpentry that kept my music career afloat. I earned a BFA from Southern Methodist University in 1995, concentrating in painting, and began my career at The Wolf Company in Dallas, where I drafted sets for stages like Barney and learned from master designer Peter Wolf. In 1998 I headed to UCLA for Scenic Design, worked with Robert Israel and Neil Jampolis, and then launched a long run as a Freelance Art Director/Production Designer on videos, films, and commercials.
From 2005 I returned to Texas, doing design work, collaborating with Zambarano Construction, and selling original art in galleries in Baton Rouge, Boston, and Austin. In 2007 I formed ENV, LLC and started Canvasland, braiding my fabrication skills with design services. Between 2007 and 2022 I continued designing and building projects while selling art, and in 2023–2024 I served as Project Superintendent for Shoberg Homes on a $12M Alterstudio project, coordinating all trades, codes, and neighbor communications. I’m fluent in industry software (CAD, BIM, Adobe Creative Suite) and thrive on solving problems creatively, with a focus on practical, on-site results. I also stay active as a drummer and keep my energy strong with hot yoga, and I pride myself on working well with clients, subcontractors, and teams.
