I’m a graphic designer and visual artist. I was raised in Central Montana and received a BA in graphic design with a painting minor from Montana State University. Following undergraduate school, I moved to Providence where I received an MFA in graphic design from the Rhode Island School of Design. After graduating, I moved to Chicago where I was a staff designer and worked with corporate, cultural and not-for-profit clients. Eventually I moved to Minneapolis where I was a senior designer at Walker Art Center. In 1989 I opened Civic Design, where I focus on visual communication and book design for corporate, cultural and academic organizations. In addition to my studio practice, I’ve taught visual communication at Rhode Island School of Design, Minneapolis College of Art and Design, and the University of Minnesota, among others. Simultaneously, my personal work ebbs and flows between drawing, painting and photography.
